Le Fisherman Slot Review
Le Fisherman is the eighth entry in Hacksaw Gaming's Le series, released on 5 February 2026. It places Smokey the raccoon in a lakeside fishing setting and runs on a 6×5 grid with cluster pays — wins forming from five or more matching symbols connected horizontally or vertically. The game introduces two new mechanics not seen in earlier Le titles: the Epic Rainbow symbol, which activates all special symbols grid-wide simultaneously, and the Big Catch Bar, a progression meter that unlocks stronger Rainbow activations across the three free spin tiers. RTP is 96.33% in its standard configuration, with lower operator settings available. Volatility is rated below average, making it the least volatile Le series slot to date. Maximum win is 15,000x the stake.

How to play Le Fisherman
Set your stake using the bet toggle at the bottom of the screen. In the UK the maximum bet is £50 per spin; in other markets it reaches £100. Press Spin or activate Autoplay via the menu — Autoplay supports win and loss limit settings and a configurable number of rounds. Turbo mode is available to speed up animations.
Wins form when five or more identical symbols connect horizontally or vertically anywhere on the 6×5 grid. Diagonals do not count. When a winning cluster is confirmed, the Super Cascade mechanic activates: all symbols of the winning type across the entire grid disappear — not just those in the cluster itself — and new symbols fall in from above. This continues until no new wins form. Every position vacated by a disappearing symbol creates a Golden Square marker, which can be activated later in the spin if a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow symbol is present.

Special symbols
- FS Scatter: Landing 3, 4, or 5 FS symbols in the base game triggers On Thin Ice, Slippery When Wet, or Smokey Under Water respectively.
- Rainbow: Activates all current Golden Squares on the grid, revealing their contents in sequence. Standard activation — coins, clovers, then bucket collectors.
- Epic Rainbow: A stronger version of the Rainbow. When it lands, it activates all special symbols across the entire grid simultaneously rather than just Golden Squares. This can trigger chain reactions involving multiple Clovers and Buckets at once, producing larger combined outcomes than a standard Rainbow activation.
- Bronze / Silver / Gold / Diamond Coins: Revealed from activated Golden Squares. Values increase by tier: Bronze lowest, Diamond highest (up to 500x stake).
- Green Clover: Multiplies adjacent Coins and Bucket symbols by 2x–20x before final collection.
- Gold Clover: Multiplies all Coins and Buckets visible on the entire grid by 2x–20x.
- Bucket: Collects the aggregated values of nearby Coins and other Buckets in its vicinity. Activates after Clover multiplications.
- Global Bucket: Collects the aggregated values of all visible Coins and Buckets across the entire grid. The highest-value collector symbol in the game.
Le Fisherman bonus features
Super Cascades
Le Fisherman uses a Super Cascade mechanic that removes all instances of a winning symbol type from the grid — not only those forming part of the winning cluster. For example, if a 5-Fish cluster wins, every Fish symbol visible anywhere on the 6×5 grid disappears, not just the five that formed the win. New symbols fall in to fill all vacated positions, and another win check follows. Each disappeared symbol creates a Golden Square. This means large cascade chains can mark a significant portion of the grid with Golden Squares before a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow activates them.
Golden Squares, Rainbow, and Epic Rainbow
Golden Squares accumulate throughout the cascade chain of a single spin. When a Rainbow symbol lands during the same spin that Golden Squares exist, all marked positions activate simultaneously — each revealing a Coin, Clover, Bucket, or Global Bucket. The reveal sequence plays out in order: Green Clovers multiply adjacent targets, Gold Clovers multiply everything on the grid, then Buckets and Global Buckets collect the summed Coin values.
The Epic Rainbow goes further: instead of activating only Golden Squares, it activates all special symbols on the entire grid at once — including any Clovers or Buckets that have not been revealed through Golden Squares. This means the Epic Rainbow can trigger a full grid-wide collection sequence in a single event, which is the primary mechanism behind the game's largest single-spin payouts.
Big Catch Bar
The Big Catch Bar is a progression mechanic exclusive to the free spin modes. It is a meter that fills as Golden Squares are activated during the bonus. As it fills, it advances through levels — each new level unlocking stronger Rainbow activations. At the highest level (Level 4), every spin produces a guaranteed Golden Square activator. The Big Catch Bar carries over between spins within the same bonus round and does not reset between retriggers.
On Thin Ice — Free Spins
Triggered by landing 3 FS scatter symbols in the base game. Awards 10 free spins. The Big Catch Bar is active throughout. Golden Squares remain highlighted between spins and do not reset until they are activated by a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow. As the Big Catch Bar fills across the round, Rainbow activations become more frequent and more powerful, eventually reaching Level 4 which guarantees a Golden Square activator on every spin.
Retrigger: landing 2 additional FS symbols awards +2 spins; 3 FS symbols award additional spins. Upgrading to Slippery When Wet is possible if 4 FS symbols land during the bonus.
Slippery When Wet — Free Spins
Triggered by landing 4 FS symbols in the base game, or by upgrading from On Thin Ice. Awards 10 free spins. The key difference from On Thin Ice is that Golden Squares remain highlighted even after activation — they are never cleared during the bonus. Once marked, a square can be activated repeatedly on successive Rainbow or Epic Rainbow triggers, allowing accumulated Clover and Bucket combinations to build across the entire round. The Big Catch Bar continues to progress, further strengthening activations as the bonus extends.
Smokey Under Water — Free Spins
Triggered exclusively by landing 5 FS scatter symbols during a single base game spin. Cannot be purchased via Bonus Buy. Awards 10 free spins. The Big Catch Bar starts fully filled at Level 4 — meaning a guaranteed Golden Square activator lands on every single spin from the first round. Combined with persistent, never-resetting Golden Squares (as in Slippery When Wet), every spin activates the accumulated grid contents. This consistent activation of coin values, Clover multipliers, and Global Bucket collections across all 10 spins is the primary path to the 15,000x maximum win.
Bonus Buy in Le Fisherman
Le Fisherman includes five Bonus Buy options. Smokey Under Water cannot be purchased — it requires a natural 5-scatter trigger. Bonus Buy is unavailable in the UK under UKGC regulations; confirm availability at your specific casino before registering.
| Option | Cost | RTP | What you get |
|---|---|---|---|
| BonusHunt FeatureSpins™ | 3x stake (per spin) | 94.33% | Each spin has 5x enhanced odds of triggering a bonus. Normal gameplay continues — no guaranteed bonus entry. |
| Rainbow Trout FeatureSpinsâ„¢ | 50x stake (per spin) | 96.14% | Each spin guarantees at least 1 win, a Rainbow or Epic Rainbow landing, and a minimum Coin value of 1x stake. Golden Square activations occur every spin. |
| Rainbow Epic Drop FeatureSpins™ | 500x stake (per spin) | 96.28% | Each spin guarantees an Epic Rainbow landing and a minimum Coin value of 1x stake. Full grid-wide activation on every spin — the highest-cost repeating option. |
| On Thin Ice | 57x stake | 96.31% | Instant entry to On Thin Ice — 10 free spins with persistent Golden Squares and the Big Catch Bar progression active. Retriggering possible. |
| Slippery When Wet | 250x stake | 96.25% | Instant entry to Slippery When Wet — 10 free spins with permanently active (never-resetting) Golden Squares and the Big Catch Bar. Highest purchasable free spin option. |
The Rainbow Epic Drop FeatureSpins at 500x per spin is the most expensive repeating option in the Le series to date — it guarantees an Epic Rainbow every spin, which means full grid-wide special symbol activation on each round. This is a high-cost, high-consistency route to large coin collection sequences without entering a free spin bonus. Note that RTP figures for the two FeatureSpin options (96.14% and 96.28%) are higher than the base game in standard play at some operator settings. Smokey Under Water is not purchasable in any configuration.

Our take
Le Fisherman is a deliberate departure from the higher-volatility profile of its Le series predecessors. The below-average volatility rating and 42% hit frequency mean sessions produce more frequent small returns — a notable contrast to Le King or Le Pharaoh, where the base game can run quiet for extended periods. For players who found earlier Le titles too variance-heavy, Le Fisherman is the most accessible entry point in the series.
The Epic Rainbow is the genuinely new mechanic here. Its grid-wide simultaneous activation — compared to the standard Rainbow's sequential Golden Square reveal — creates a different quality of outcome. A well-timed Epic Rainbow with a populated grid of Gold Coins, Clovers, and Global Buckets can produce a single large collection event in a way that cascades through the earlier games' step-by-step sequences cannot match. The 500x-per-spin Rainbow Epic Drop FeatureSpin takes this to an extreme — guaranteeing that event on every spin — at a cost that reflects the consistency.
The Big Catch Bar progression adds structure to the free spin modes that the earlier games lack. Knowing that Level 4 guarantees a Golden Square activator on every spin gives the bonus round a clear goal and a measurable build, which makes Smokey Under Water feel earned when it arrives naturally. The 15,000x cap matches Le Pharaoh and Le Viking; it is lower than Le King's 20,000x but sits comfortably within the medium-range expectation for the series. The 86.25% low RTP setting is the most severe in the Le series — checking the active configuration before playing is non-negotiable.
Le Fisherman FAQ
What is Le Fisherman?
Le Fisherman is a cluster pays video slot by Hacksaw Gaming, released on 5 February 2026. It is the eighth entry in the Le series and features Smokey the raccoon in a lakeside fishing setting. The game uses a 6×5 grid with Super Cascades, Golden Squares, Rainbow and Epic Rainbow symbols, a Big Catch Bar progression mechanic, and three tiered free spin modes.
What is the RTP of Le Fisherman?
The standard RTP is 96.33%. Lower configurations — 94.33%, 92.34%, and 86.25% — are available at some operators. The 86.25% setting is the lowest in the Le series. Always check the in-game paytable before playing to confirm which version is active at your casino.
What is the difference between Rainbow and Epic Rainbow?
A standard Rainbow activates all current Golden Squares on the grid, revealing their contents in the standard sequence. An Epic Rainbow activates all special symbols across the entire grid simultaneously — including any Clovers or Buckets not connected to Golden Squares. The Epic Rainbow can trigger a full grid-wide collection event in a single step, producing larger combined outcomes than a standard Rainbow in comparable grid states.
What is the Big Catch Bar?
The Big Catch Bar is a progression meter active in all three free spin modes. It fills as Golden Squares are activated during the bonus. As it advances through levels, Rainbow activations become more powerful — reaching Level 4 where a guaranteed Golden Square activator lands on every spin. The bar carries over between spins and through retriggers within the same bonus round.
How do you trigger the bonus rounds in Le Fisherman?
Landing 3 FS scatter symbols triggers On Thin Ice (10 free spins, persistent Golden Squares, Big Catch Bar active). Landing 4 FS symbols triggers Slippery When Wet (10 free spins, permanently active Golden Squares, Big Catch Bar). Landing 5 FS symbols triggers Smokey Under Water (10 free spins, Big Catch Bar starts at Level 4, guaranteed activator every spin). On Thin Ice and Slippery When Wet are also available via Bonus Buy where permitted.
Can you buy the bonus in Le Fisherman?
Yes — four options are available via Bonus Buy: BonusHunt FeatureSpins™ (3x), Rainbow Trout FeatureSpins™ (50x), On Thin Ice (57x), and Slippery When Wet (250x). A fifth option, Rainbow Epic Drop FeatureSpins™ (500x per spin), guarantees an Epic Rainbow on every spin without entering a free spin mode. Smokey Under Water cannot be purchased. In the UK, Bonus Buy is not available at UKGC-licensed casinos.
What is the maximum win in Le Fisherman?
The maximum win is 15,000x the stake. At £1 per spin that equals £15,000; at the maximum £50 stake in UK play it equals £750,000. It is most reachable during Smokey Under Water, where the Big Catch Bar is at Level 4 from the first spin and every round activates the accumulated Golden Squares.
How does Le Fisherman differ from Le Bandit?
Both games share the 6×5 cluster pays grid and Golden Squares mechanic. Le Fisherman introduces the Epic Rainbow (grid-wide activation vs Le Bandit's standard Rainbow targeting Golden Squares only), the Big Catch Bar progression in free spin modes, and Bucket/Global Bucket collectors replacing Le Bandit's Pot of Gold. Le Fisherman also has significantly lower volatility — below average vs Le Bandit's medium — and a higher hit frequency (42% vs ~32%). The maximum win cap is the same at 15,000x for Le Fisherman vs 10,000x for Le Bandit.
Is Le Fisherman available on mobile?
Yes. Le Fisherman runs on iOS and Android in both portrait and landscape orientations. All features including Bonus Buy and Autoplay are accessible on mobile. Tested on iPhone 14 and Samsung Galaxy S23. UK players should note the £50 maximum stake applies on mobile in line with UKGC requirements.
Player reviews of Le Fisherman
- James, London (2026): "Triggered Smokey Under Water naturally — five scatters on spin 61. The Big Catch Bar at Level 4 from the start is a different experience to the other Le games; every spin had a guaranteed activator and the Global Bucket collected across 22 Gold Coins and two Gold Clovers on spin 7. Ended the bonus at 380x. Lower variance means you actually get there more often."
- Claire, Edinburgh (2026): "The Epic Rainbow is the standout feature for me. It landed twice in the base game in the same session — both times with a dense grid. The second one activated three Gold Clovers and two Buckets simultaneously. The original Le Bandit Rainbow never felt quite that immediate."
- Tom, Bristol (2026): "Playing on iPhone 14 — performance is smooth and the Big Catch Bar level-up animation is satisfying on a smaller screen. Slippery When Wet triggered twice in one session; the second run had persistent squares that had been building for six spins before a Level 3 Rainbow cleared the whole grid. Solid return."
- Rachel, Manchester (2026): "Worth noting — my casino had the 92.34% RTP setting active, not the 96.33% standard. Found out from the paytable. Switched to a different platform. The gap between the lowest setting (86.25%) and the highest is bigger here than in Le Bandit or Le Viking, so it genuinely matters which version you're on."
- Dan, Leeds (2026): "The lower volatility makes it a better fit for longer sessions on a fixed budget. Le King and Le Pharaoh can go 80–100 spins without a meaningful result; Le Fisherman at 42% hit frequency gives you more to work with between bonus triggers. Not the highest ceiling in the series, but the most consistent floor."
- Sophie, Birmingham (2026): "Bought Rainbow Trout FeatureSpins at 50x per spin for a run of about 20 spins — guaranteed Rainbow every round means you're always activating something. Turned a profit before On Thin Ice triggered naturally on spin 14. The 500x Epic Drop option exists but feels extreme unless your bankroll supports it."
